THE NOBLE EXPERIMENT

True Stories & Hard Truths From My Time in the DEA

In almost 250 years, the United States of America has endured and overcome a revolutionary war, a civil war, a war against racism, and a myriad of foreign wars to keep Her one of the strongest nations in the world.  However, America’s 50-year-old struggle with illegal drug trafficking and the increasingly toxic poison behind it has consistently challenged this free and powerful Nation - regardless of political control in Washington DC, a steadfast and hard-nosed law enforcement strategy and close coordination with international partners. Frankly, America’s fight against the scourge of illegal drugs is a “war” having truly never been fought like any other, primarily due to many of its citizens whose frequent demand for illegal drugs are those voluntary collaborators responsible for their own demise from drug abuse, addiction and death.

On this issue, our Nation has a split personality!

In The Noble Experiment – True Stories and Hard Truths from My Time in the DEA, career DEA Special Agent Dave Gaddis writes a poignant yet realistic view of; first, what it’s like to work on the front lines of the Drug Enforcement Administration; and secondly, what the short-term outlook will be for America’s anti-drug control policies and anti-drug efforts. Dave’s writings in this book offer a rare and raw view of what is really happening to our country as it unsuccessfully attempts to defend itself from a self-afflicted and drug-induced “double personality” disorder.

Thirty-seven U.S. States and territories already having legalized cannabis in one form or another, while the U.S. federal government continues to criminalize it as a Schedule I narcotic, reflects the opposite-sides of American conflict and confusion over its historical drug control policy.  Dave’s voice from a multi-decades career in the DEA finally opens up and exposes the issues surrounding America’s failures (and successes) and Dave hopes that The Noble Experiment catches the attention of all Americans on both sides of the aisle regarding this controversial social conundrum we call a “War on Drugs.”

Dave encourages readers of all ages, races, nationalities, education and politics to consider the stories and viewpoints of this book to decide among themselves whether or not The Noble Experiment breaks “through the ceiling” on a new serious narrative for altering America’s, perhaps the world’s, perspective on an effective and lasting policy against illegal drugs.  You see, when opposing sides continue peddling the same old narratives and continue finger-pointing blame and shame upon one another, the United States of America sits idly on the issue of national drug control policy and is only weakened day-by-day.   This policy stalemate has never been more apparent than it is today.
